OpenAI describes it as a limited-run collaboration intended to give developers more tactile control over how they monitor and manage their AI coding agents running on Codex.

The hardware closely mirrors Work Louder's existing Creator Micro 2 — a customizable macro pad designed for productivity workflows. Marketing imagery for Codex Micro appears to show an essentially identical form factor, suggesting this is more of a co-branded, purpose-configured version of an existing product than a ground-up hardware design.

Codex, OpenAI's cloud-based software engineering agent, is capable of running coding tasks autonomously in the background — spinning up environments, writing code, and executing tests without constant developer input.
